If you’ve ever had a urinarty tract infection (UTI), you know how uncomfortable, or downright painful it can be. I’m here to help you avoid that. Or, at the least, minimize your chances of getting one.
First off, I’ll share with you a very basic fact about female genitalia- a fact that not everyone understands. (I know this because I’ve had many patients confused over this.) The urethra (pee hole) is a different hole than the vagina (where the baby comes out, and where menstrual blood passes through.) Though they are very close to each other. This is one of the reasons women tend to get UTIs more often than men. Plus, the urethra of women are much shorter than men, and therefore bacteria have a shorter distance to go get to the delicious sterile sack, known as the bladder. Because of this physiological fact, simply having intercourse can cause you to develop a UTI. One solution is to urinate each time after having sex. Doing so clears out any little swimmers, or bacteria that may have gotten into your urinary tract.
Another really tricky thing about sex and UTIs is that anal sex can be a big risk factor for UTIs. Especially if your guy accidentally slips into the vagina after sliding out of your back door. I mean thinkg about it: you’re supposed to wipr from front to back for a reason. That’s because the poop shoot harbors all kinds of bacteria that is normal for your anus, but can wreak havoc on your ladybits. Case in point: a close friend, who shall remain nameless, once confided that she ended up with a kidney infection after every anal sex episode. Sad for her, because she LOVES anal sex. Much harder to do when a painful bach ache, kidney infection threatens each encounter. She has learned to avoid that, and you can too, by remembering the simple trick of front to back. That is, wipe front to back, and with penile penetration, only go front to back. Deeper translation: Do NOT have anal sex, and then have vaginal sex. Bacteria from your digestive tract can get into your uro-genital tract where they don’t belong.
